One of the biggest challenges we have as Christians is sharing our faith. On a recent trip to Uganda I was blessed to be a part of a city evangelism team. When I say “city,” I use the term quite loosely. It was more like a “walk through poverty stricken African brick shanty’s and share the love of God” evangelism team.
As we were finishing up our day and praying for the lost souls we encountered, I was struck with a thought… “Now that wasn’t so challenging!” Our three member team consisting of me and two Ugandan women were able to love on a small group of people through walking out our faith, serving by meeting specific needs, and speaking the truth of the Gospel message. So this brings me to this place today.
When it comes to sharing our faith, I see three simple ways we can do that.
- Live it out
- Serve others
- Speak it
First, we need to live out our faith. Paul shares in the book of 1 Corinthians to “follow me as I follow the example of Christ.” I believe that his intent here is to say, “You may not fully know what Jesus looks like, but you will see a glimpse of Him if you take a look at how I live my life.” How we live out our faith is the first thing many people will see.
Second, we share our faith by serving others.
James says, “What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it by your actions? Can that kind of faith save anyone? Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well”—but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing. What good does that do?”
Serving others and meeting needs is another key to sharing our faith.
And lastly, we share our faith through speaking it out. Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. If we are unable to speak about our faith, how will they hear? How will our friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers come to Christ if we remain silent?
Live it, serve others, and speak it out loud… Three simple yet profound ways to share your faith.
Do you have a story about sharing your faith? We would love to hear from you. Feel free to share a comment. And remember, if this post spoke to you, share it with a friend!
Be Blessed,
