June 2014 – Ishunga, Uganda

Lori and I have just returned from a two week journey into the heart of Uganda with Calvary Chapel Southeast mission team. Ishunga is located in western Uganda and is close to the town of Ntungamo, UG. It has not had the presence of white people since the 1960’s and has little or no Western influences. While there we were able to assist in digging over 3600′ of trench for a water line and two taps. The source is a natural underground spring that feeds a well we had dug and pumps to a 25,000 liter storage tank. The taps are gravity fed.

In addition to the work projects we saw God perform many miracles through Christ our Lord. We prayed with many people, including the town drunk. Four days after we led him to the Lord he was walking through the community and informed us that the only thing he has had to drink was water and tea… We prayed with a woman who was feverish, another woman was led to the Lord and professed her desire to serve Him. We were able to give her a Bible but she informed us that she is unable to read. She said her husband reads so we are praying that they will be able to read God’s Word together.

In addition to this our team gathered around a young man who was paralyzed from the waist down and prayed for him and encouraged him. His mother had walked for 2 hours to seek out the Muzungu’s (white people) for help. We shared the help we came to bring was not silver and gold, but the Word that is everlasting. Jesus…

In all it was an amazing trip… We were so blessed to be able to be a part of this.

I will be updating this soon with more details and photos, but for now just wanted to share a few images from our trip.
