2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have concluded this: that one has died for all, therefore all have died; 15 and he died for all, that those who live might no longer live for themselves but for him who for their sake died and was raised.
Who are you living for? Who am I living for? That’s the question every believer in Christ must face at some point in their walk of faith. This week I was reading through the book of Isaiah and there was a portion of it that really spoke to me. The people of God are using the same resources that allow them to live to make idols of worship. The same wood that they have to build with or cook their food on they also carve into idols they worship.
Paul reminds me in Corinthians that I shall not live for my own sake, but the sake of him who died for me. I’m not to take the resources God blessed me with and use them for pleasure to the point of my comfort becoming an idol, rather, I am to love others for Christ’s sake for the bringing of all people into reconciliation with Him.
From the place of love Christ reconciled us to himself through his death and resurrection, so I too will give up all things for the sake of reconciling others to him. That includes using what the Lord has provided for kingdom use rather than creating my own idols and simply serving myself.
Lord, forgive me for taking much of what you’ve blessed me with for granted. Help me to give up all things for the reconciliation of others to you. You sacrificed your life on the cross for me and I am so grateful for the gift of salvation. Thank you for your blessings. Amen.
