Eph 3:20-21 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, (21) to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
Paul’s prayer at the end of this chapter in Ephesians not only speaks of the power of God to do more abundantly than we could ever imagine, but also says a lot about Paul’s trust in Him to do those things. He believes that God will do “far more abundantly” than we ask or even think. In a book I read by C.S. Lewis, he states it superbly.
“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
We serve a God that has far more for us than we could ever imagine,
yet we are satisfied in the simplest pleasures.
Prayer: Lord, help me today to see you as the most amazing pleasure in the universe and trust that you have far more abundance waiting for me than I could ever imagine. I don’t want more money, more stuff, more power! I desire to have more of you today. Do amazing things in and through my life today and help me to bring glory to your name. Amen…
