Daily Bible Verse ~ Ephesians 5:14-16

Eph 5:14-16 For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

We live in times that are evil. The apostle Paul addresses the church in Ephesus with this same message that is quite relevant today. There are many things that tempt us to walk in these evil ways and Paul instructs us today to be awake and to be careful. When we are awakened from our dead state, then Christ will shine in us. When we have Christ in us doing the work, then making the most of our time becomes less difficult. When we are walking Daily in Christ, then the things of this world are less tempting to our soul.

Today we are reminded to do several things:

  • Be Awake
  • Arise from the dead
  • Be careful how we walk
  • Walk as wise men
  • Make the most of our time

It is Gods work in us that awakens us and allows us to rise from the dead and sinful world.

Eph 2:1-7 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

Once we commit to following Jesus Christ, we are empowered to carefully walk as wise men and make the most of our time. Jesus calls us to take up our cross and follow Him. Are you following Him and walking as a wise man (or woman) today? I encourage you to wake up, arise from the dead, and allow Jesus to shine in your life today. This evil world desperately needs it!
