Genesis 16:2  And Sarai said to Abram, “Behold now, the Lord has prevented me from bearing children. Go in to my servant; it may be that I shall obtain children by her.” And Abram listened to the voice of Sarai.

Have you ever been too impatient to wait on the Lord? As I read once again through Genesis I’m reminded of the story of Abram and Sarai taking the fulfillment of God’s blessing into their own hands.

I often wonder how the story would have turned out in their life had Abram simply reminded Sarai of the blessing and been patient before the Lord.

There are areas in my life I look back on and think about how things could have been different, or even better,  if I was simply a bit more patient. But the good news is that in spite of Abram’s shortcomings, God still fulfilled His promise. We can mess up, be impatient, or try to do things our own way, but God is so patient and whatever He promises us will always come to pass.

Lord, forgive me for my impatience. Help me to wait on you today.  Amen
