God wants us to know Him. Not just to know Him, but to behold Him as well. To behold God is to fix our eyes and minds upon Him. To observe Him with care and to direct our affections upon Him. God is good and great is His name, there is none like Him.
He is to be feared above all gods, and greatly to be praised, He is the Great King over all the earth, he alone does great wonders, his loving kindness is everlasting. He is the Blessed and only Sovereign, the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, and as high as the heavens are above the earth , his ways and his thoughts are higher than that of ours. He is the Mighty One who has done great things. Holy is his name.
Lift up your eyes and see who has created the stars and calls them all by name, because of the greatness of His might and the strength of His power, not one of them is missing. He is rich in love and He is great in mercy. He is clothed with majesty and strength. David prayed, ‘yours, o Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; yours is the dominion, o Lord, and you exalt yourself as head over all.’
Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people and as he opened it all the people stood. And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God, and all the people answered “Amen, Amen” lifting up their hands. And they bowed their heads and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
Mary sat at the Lords feet and listened to His teaching. Joshua tore his clothes and fell to the earth on his face before the ark of the Lord. The Psalmist humbled himself before the Lord. O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our maker. I think they knew God and what it was to behold Him.
Isa_40:9 Go on up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good news; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good news; lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!”
Isaiah gives an invitation here to the people, to us, to study and know our God! Know the greatness and the character of God. And to go tell! As I searched the names of God I came across a question I thought worth asking? Who is God to you? Is He your Most High God, All sufficient One. Master, Lord of Peace, the Lord who will Provide? Is He your Father?
Has God revealed Himself to you at a time of illness, turmoil, financial difficulty, loneliness? Has He delivered you? Saved you? I say go tell! Live your life to glorify God, turn your misery that God saved you from into your ministry. This is your testimony.
Tell others of Gods greatness and who He has shown Himself to be in your life. Do you believe God is great? Share it with somebody. Behold your God. May the world see your light shining and may they say, “I want to know this God who is love and who is hope.”
Behold your God, tell of Him , that others will hear and believe.
