Isaiah 43:18-19 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
As we approach the new year I can’t help but reflect on the amazing year we have experienced in Christ. Traveling overseas proclaiming the Gospel message on two occasions, selling our home, downsizing, sending or son off next week to the mission field, and so much more that I’ll be sending out in a newsletter soon. God has done exceedingly abundantly above anything we could have dreamed, planned, or imagined.
As I read this verse, I am reminded that the way God did things this past year may not look the same as this upcoming year. God doesn’t promise me that he is going to do the same thing year after year, rather, He is doing a new thing. It makes me think about the verse in Lamentations 3, “His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning.”
The peace and hope I find in my future is knowing that He makes crooked paths straight, rivers in the desert, and paths in the wilderness. God’s will make a way when there seems to be no way.
If you’re looking for a fresh start in Christ in the new year then have no fear, He is going to live up to his Word. Serve him faithfully, worship him wholeheartedly, and give thanks this year in all circumstances.
Have a blessed day in Christ.
