Matthew 8:1-4 ESV When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him. (2) And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” (3) And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. (4) And Jesus said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”
As I read this verse today I can’t help but think about my own sin before the Lord and what He did for me to cleanse me from it. Leprosy was regarded as an internal condition more than an external one back in the day, and I see today how Jesus healing the leper was an amazing picture of Him cleansing us. As we come humbly to Him and ask Him to heal us, He is willing and able.
Prayer: Lord help me today to remember what you did for this leper is the same thing you did for my spiritual leprosy the day you called me to yourself. Thank you for cleansing me from my sin and purifying me from all unrighteousness.
