Psa 51:10-12 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. (11) Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. (12) Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
We all commit sin before the Lord. Sometimes it affects others, other times it may simply be something we think or say that has little effect on those we love and spend time with. David, in this Psalm is grieving over his sin after the infamous event of adultery and murder. But even when confronted with his sin, David understood the grace of God. He turned from his sin, repented, grieved, and suffered severe and harsh consequences. And then he received the blessing.

We may think we are getting away with something, but a child of God should remember that everything we do is seen by our Father in Heaven and will be corrected in love in His timing. I love these three verses in Psalm 51. David is crying out to God to renew his heart and restore his joy. He doesn’t want to be in the pain from sin any longer and knows that God is gracious enough to do just that.
Today I am asking the Father to cleanse my heart and renew in me the spirit that will continue to seek after Him. I want to experience His joy and I know that repentance is the first step to walking forward in the peace and joy of the Lord.
Prayer: Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit. Amen.
