Psalms 19:1-6 To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. (2) Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge. (3) There is no speech, nor are there words, whose voice is not heard. (4) Their voice goes out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, (5) which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber, and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy. (6) Its rising is from the end of the heavens, and its circuit to the end of them, and there is nothing hidden from its heat.
As I ponder on this verse today I am reminded of what the apostle Paul says in the book of Romans, “For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.” Even the heavens declare the greatness of our Lord. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth to declare the awesomeness of Himself. And yet, there are so many that look to the beauty of the night sky and miss seeing Him. Though the heavens cannot speak, they seem to cry out, “Majesty, worship His majesty!”
And as we travel from night to morn, the brilliance of the sun brings us joy in the morning. It’s brightness hides the darkness and the morning dew fades away as the heat of day permeates the air. We are without excuse, God has revealed Himself to all mankind in the awe and wonder of creation.
Prayer
Lord, may I declare your glory to those around me as the night sky. I am so thankful for all you created and I long to see you face to face one day as I walk along the path to glory. Amen
